  • The Entrepreneurship Programme (Caters for Small, Micro, and Medium (SME) businesses that have been operating for at least 2 years)

The section 18A certificate is issued in respect of donations received in cash or kind. Corporate and long-term donors receive their certificate from the Programme Coordinator. Upon inception in 2013, TFT and the Mpumalanga Department of Education (MDoE) signed an MoU with a list of 16 schools for cohort 1 pilot to support through the LitNum Programme. In 2022, a further 16 schools were adopted through the programme for cohort 2 (running from 2023-2025).

Students must meet the following criteria to be considered for the scholarship/bursary:

  • Applicant must be a South African citizen applying to study within South Africa.
  • Applicant must have successfully completed a senior certificate and TVET entry requirements.
  • Applicant must come from previously disadvantaged communities and/, academically deserving with a financial need to study further.
  • A maximum R600k combined household income will be considered.
  • A minimum of 60% average pass mark is required for consideration
  • Acceptance at a registered higher education institution for the year of study.
  • Field of study must be in line with the set criteria of the Thebe Foundation.
  • Applicant must meet the entrance requirements of the higher education institution for the chosen field of study.
  • Studies must be undertaken with an accredited registered learning institution which includes:
  • Accounting
  • Agriculture
  • Education (with specialisation in Mathematics and Technology)
  • Electrical, Mechanical, Mining, Chemical Engineering
  • Finance and Corporate Finance
  • Information Communication Technology
  • Renewables
  • Water and Energy Studies
  • TVET Artisans need to be in the following skills programs: Electricians, plumbing, mechanics, Solar voltaic service technicians, Millwright

No. TFT does not operate as a charity. The trust solely exists to implement development programmes as per strategy and annual plans

Informal Markets Programme:

  • 100% black-owned .
  • Township hawkers and Informal consultancy businesses
  • Applicants must be based in any Johannesburg-based township
  • South African citizenship
  • Youth, Female and disabled owned businesses are encouraged to apply.

 

Enterprise Development and Supplier Development Programme:

  • 100% black-owned & registered business
  • Business operational for at least 2 years
  • South African citizen
  • Female-owned, people living with disabilities, and youth-owned businesses are encouraged to apply
