The Literacy and Numeracy (LitNum) Programme has been implemented since 2013 in Mpumalanga Province as one of our flagship programmes. The programme is aligned to our goal of transforming society by implementing and supporting sustainable programs that are community-focused, empowering and geared towards nation-building in nature. The main goal of the LitNum Programme is to build a solid foundation in the numeracy and literacy skills. This is done by capacitating Grades R – 4 teachers to improve their content knowledge and acquire new numeracy and literacy teaching approaches that contribute towards improved academic performance of our foundation phase learners. Supported the Puku Foundation to develop and publish literature books in all South African
languages.
Strengthened the involvement of parents and advocacy that resulted in an increased number of parents attending programme activities.
